Where to go to jib, bonk, spin and pop in Verbier

featured in Snowparks Updated

If you're new to the slopes it's a good chance that you'll be wanting to try your first kicker or rail soon. Freestyle is great fun and if you want to learn there is no better place to head than the Verbier snowpark.

The La Chaux park in Verbier is, as the name implies, in the La Chaux sector directly under the Chaux Express chairlift. Kickers, rails and even an airbag feature in the Verbier park which sits in a natural sunny bowl. The park features a camera system that allows visitors to have their run through the park and on the airbag filmed and then shared online.

Secured and maintained daily the park includes five separate lines and an airbag.

The easiest line is the S line (small) which features five table-tops/whoops, the M line (medium) and L (large) lines comprise three kickers from 9m to 13m, a line with rails, tubes and boxes as well as jibs of all types.

The best thing to do is to treat the park like a piste; ski within your limits and progress at a steady controlled pace. Although anyone with a lift ticket can ride in the park it can seem like a daunting place, riding safely and in the proper fashion should help keep you safe.

The Copperfield areas

There are various challenges and fun elements to tackle in Verbier:

Copperfield School Mini KM Sprint
Also known as speed skiing, you have to get down as fast as you can. Based at La Chaux, you can reach speeds of up to 70km/h.

Copperfield School Skicross
Close to the snowpark, this is a 700m fun-cross run for all abilities. Maintained by a team of highly skilled shapers, you can navigate its long and short banked turns, large and small jumps (whoops) before reaching the finish.

Copperfield School Funslope
In the La Tzoumaz-Savoleyres sector, it's open to all skiers and snowboarders. Ideal for children learning the basics of freestyle. The Taillay slope is 400m long, has a 10m twister, a 15m long curved wall and 23 other elements including banked turns, jumps, a tunnel and more.

Copperfield School Verbier Race Experience
